GIVEAWAY - Manzanita Kids!

Every child who comes on board our boat is immediately drawn to our stash of building toys from Manzanita Kids. No explanations needed, they see the basket, grab the pieces, and start creating. The happy hum of busy kids is a beautiful thing. Naia likes her big brother to make things she can sit inside of, and Z likes to create whole towns. As a mom I adore open ended toys that don't tell your kids how to play, instead these toys let your kids and their imagination take charge.

David and Adrienne are the husband and wife team behind Manzanita Kids. This couple designs and builds all of the toys from their home cottage workshop just north of Seattle. You can read all about how they made the change from 9-to-5 office jobs to owning their own business here, it's a very inspiring story.

Let's get down to the toys! The holidays are closer than you think, and these sets make fabulous gifts. Naia's favorite is the modular vehicle.

If it has wheels and goes vroom, she's all over it. It's a truck, it's a submarine, it's an airplane. My girl spends all kinds of time loading animals and gnomes into the vehicle and driving them around. And let me tell you, even though this is not what this toy was intended for... she likes to get in and on it and ride it around. She has put this lovely vehicle through the toddler abuse test and it's passed with flying colors.

Manzanita Kids also has a beautiful line of blocks, puzzles, and stackers. Using a mix of cherry, maple, and walnut the woods are lovely contrasts of dark and light. These alphabet blocks are a gorgeous example.

Manzanita Kids has an Etsy shop that many of you may be familiar with, but they have just opened their own online store as well. In honor of the opening of Manzanita Kids online, David and Adrienne are generously offering one lucky reader here a free modular tree house! (Giveaway only open to USA residents because of shipping.)  This set is beautiful and original and versatile, there are so many different ways your kids can build this tree house.

Just leave a comment here telling us your favorite item from Manzanita Kids online shop. And for an extra entry go "like" their shop's Facebook  page and come back and tell us you did.  Comments will be open until Friday night, September 14.  I'll post a winner Saturday morning from a random drawing.

COMMENTS CLOSED - WE HAVE A WINNER! JESS HOLLAND Please see the CONTACT tab and zap me your mailing address so we can have David and Adrienne send you the beautiful tree house.  Thanks everyone! And be sure to use that coupon code until the end of SEPT.

It's very refreshing to see toys not made out of plastic that foster imagination instead of providing unnecessary sensory overload. Very creative pieces.
