heat wave

If you live along the eastern seaboard, you know it's been a hot. I mean 110 with humidity why did I get pregnant THIS summer hot!?! Poor Zach has been indoors more than we're usually used to, and I've been forced to fall back on some of our winter time outings to get out and beat the heat.
He's always game for a trip to the aquarium...
And this summer we discovered the joys of our FREE art museum in Baltimore (The Walters for you locals) which is incredibly kid friendly and interesting enough for many, many return trips (in future heat waves and blizzards).
(The museum hands out sketching kits to the kids when you enter, this made Zach and daddy very happy as they spent all morning copying hieroglyphs from various items in the Egyptian art room.)
(And more sketching of the bugs of course.)
(This was his favorite- the Faberge Eggs. It's now on the top of his holiday list! What every 6 year old wants, right?)

And of course, when all else fails and mommy doesn't have the energy to go anywhere, this is an easy way to beat the heat at home.
Hope you all are staying cool.

Both the aquarium and the art museum look like fun! Glad you're finding ways to beat the heat. :)

Did you take that jellyfish shot? Because it's AWE.SOME. Stick a watermark on that sucker before somebody steals it and attempts to sell prints!

Oh, my the humidity is crazy here too! I remember being pregnant with my first it was the end of July and I was due, the weather was humid like this and just a wee bit uncomfortable. Hang in there mama it looks like you are making the best of things. xo

Not a chance of beating this heat...haha. Just float on down this way, and wring me out. I'm drenched.

I have thought about you and how hot you must be feeling. Dylan was born in June, and it was nothing compared to this heat. I still remember thinking I would spontaneously combust. Sending cool thoughts your way. (and when you're finished with them, send them back, haha)

What a summer! But it sure looks like you have so many wonderful places to visit on your jetty-step! Not too many more weeks to go now :-). Btw your blog right hand bar is looking so beautiful with all those lovely projects.

Just wanted to say that I LOVE your blog. We're seriously considering making the move to boat of our own. Inspired daily by your words, photos, and love.

After 2 months in the Chesapeake and Potomac with no A/C and only a couple of DC fans, we didn't feel too bad about having to cut our cruising short by a month (business was calling!). As hot as June and July were we didn't even want to contemplate how horrible August would be. But when we get back on board in November you just know we'll complain about the cold!
