all i want for christmas

My sweet boy has been waiting for this day for over a year now, basiclaly since his first friend lost a first tooth. Why oh why aren't mine loose mama? Everyone is losing teeth but ME! Finally a couple of weeks ago the wiggle was discovered in his two front teeth and he's been on full alert ever since, eating apples and carrots and anything hard to help the tooth along. It was an innocent mouth full of sticky rice that did the deed. A little blood, some tears from both of us (for different reasons), and a small celebration ice cream.

He set an elaborate trap for the tooth fairy making it difficult for her to negociate the miles of finger knit yarn chains and stuffed animal walls. "I want her to get stuck here so we can play," he explained. But in the end she found her way in with one shiny gold $1 coin and a small note and managed to get back out again.
And I just can not get enough of this smile now!

Congrats, Zach! Love the new smile. :) You know, my first real blogpost was Elizabeth's first missing tooth. She was 7 (and 4 months!), but the dentist says the longer it takes to lose a tooth the better off your permanent teeth are. So tell Z he'll have great new teeth!

Oh, I haven't even thought of Cora losing her teeth yet. How precious that smile is!

cindy, you do such a great job of summing up the mama's end of the experience of these milestones. i love his desire to capture and play with the tooth fairy- super sweet!

Congratulations Zach. So glad the tooth fairy came out unscathed!

I love seeing those gap tooth smiles! My middle son has been slow at losing his baby teeth and now they are all coming out at once.
here is a practical question-how cold is your boat in the winter? We are only on ours about half the time-all spring and summer except to come home and do laundry--then in the winter I totally wimp out. I can feel the cold through the floor! We have a houseboat and it seems impossible to heat it with all of the windows.
