summer nights

These long, lingering days of summer feel so luxurious after a long winter here. Being able to really take advantage of the whole day, making room for work and play and a little more play and just one more romp in the moonlight mama please?

Naia announces sunset each night, "The sky is turning pink and red and owange!! So beautiful!" And she is starting to figure out the cycle of the sun reminding me that the sun is going bye bye to grandma and grandpa's house in Hawaii but it will come back in the morning.

Staying at the marina pool until closing time, evening cart rides around the marina, chasing and catching fireflies, and of course very late bedtimes too. It's all part of the blissful abundance of summer.

(One of our marina neighborhood kids with some fireflies.)

Maybe I should jump on board this late bedtime thing. But then when do the adults get to play? *sigh* Driving me a bit nuts recently. But it's still light outside. I understand it's hard to go to sleep. Sleep child sleep!
That's such a pretty church! And my kids would LOVE to live near a ghost town. ;) Your photos really bring out the beauty of the area. What adventures you will have there!

Cindy, I'm so sorry! I had your blog and Nicole's up at the same time and read them both before coming back to respond!

Anyway...those photos are gorgeous! My kids rarely see the summer night sky because they won't sleep in! Occasionally, we make an exception, and now I feel like we should more often!
just beautiful!
Time to become a nocturnal creature until October then?
GREAT kid pics!

If I had a crush on spring, summer makes it a full-blown love affair. The late bedtimes. The tight, sun-kissed skin. Yes, chasing fireflies still makes me giddy.

I see why my crafting reduces from a stream to a dripping faucet. Love it so.
This series of photos brings me back to the days we were kids with our boat in the tiny town of Northeast MD, very near the Chesapeake. Weekends were for doing all those wonderfully warm activities while knowing there was a body of water into which we jump anytime without fear of pollution or stranger danger or anything other than the occasional lightning storm.

May you and your family have the best Fourth-you are right in the perfect area to see and enjoy most of it. Happy July.

Sounds dreamy Lynda! Very close to what we have here, except for the pollution :(
