Vacation Denied

He kept bouncing around and chirping about how nothing could stop us from getting on that plane. NOTHING. No more flying standby like we always did for Hawaii. We purchased these tickets, we had seat assignments... "Nothing can stop us mom! NOTHING!"

Nothing except the U.S. State Department. It's a loooonnnnngggg story, but in a nutshell we had a passport snag and our grand adventure was thwarted at the airport. We were supposed to spend 2 weeks romping around Ecuador. The Andes, the Amazon, the markets and volcanoes... it was all ours for the vacationing. And now it's all gone. Oh, and did I mention that in the last 24-48 hours we all managed to get sick too, so in a weird way worked out for the better because there is vomiting and fevers and coughing and all that taking over the family too.

So while we cry moan and feel sorry for ourselves and attempt to see whether or not we can recoup any of our losses and re-book the trip... here are some totally random photos of the kids the past week or so enjoying spring time around the marina.

Poo! Its amazing how things work out but its seems like there's been a lot of disappointment lately for you guys. The car accident and Hawaii and another thwarted road trip? Thinking of you guys as I hope you begin to feel better.

I am so, so sorry for your devastating disappointment. All that work and preparation. All that dreaming and visualizing. I truly feel for you. It just shows that whether on land or sea or air, we all face disappointments. We had to turn back half way to Easter Island from sheer exhaustion. I had pictured us beneath those heads and I had tasted the wine and salmon in the fjords of Chile and suddenly the movie reel spun off the projector and the sound squealed to a halt and with a turn of the wheel that was the end of that. I do hope you can reschedule the trip and salvage the costs. I hope you all feel better soon.

Feel better. What is meant to be will happen - let it just unfold. It will most likely be better than you had originally scheduled/planned anyway!

O, disaster! I'm so sorry to hear your news! And what a wonderful adventure you had all lined up!

I hope things are able to work out so that it's only a postponement and not a cancellation!

NOOOOOO, I hope the kids are over the worst of the dissapointment by now. Also hope you are all feeling better and over the sickness.
It would not have been good vacation time being all sick while away and also better to pick up on the glitch going out of the country, rather than trying to get back in....that doesn't bear thinking about !
Fingers crossed it all falls into place and you can all take off again real soon, hugs to you all.

Oh no that's so gutting. I really hope you can recoup some of the loss and re-book (it sounded like the most amazing adventure)
Get well soon and fingers crossed you'll be back at the airport heading out soon.
Hugs for you all, hope it all works out
