Drifting Thoughts

In my next life, I want to be a piece of drift wood. Born of the forest, a long lasting love affair with the ocean, old age sunning on the soft sand, and final days in the hands of an imaginative spirit.

I can totally identify. I grew up at the coast and finding cool driftwood was a constant mission. :)

Beautiful photos and thoughts on driftwood... we just returned home from time spent on an island, I am missing the magic of the ocean and all that the shores have to offer.

You have a natural way of sharing your creativity in a modern way!

I second what Holly Noelle said! And I too can *totally* identify.

Holly - golly, thanks (blush)

Lily - you sound like a salty dog

Joy - if I had a place to store it all... good thing I don't!

gardenmama - what island was it?

Thank you Jodie for your kind words!

Masasa, you rock as always!

Rachel - thanks! our playdough has digressed into shades of mud. methinks it's time for a new batch!

nothing like the great lakes...fresh water, cool nights....I have thousands of hours on them. From the pink granite rocks of Baie Fine towering hundreds of feet above the North East edge of the North Channel to the miles of Dunes along Lake Superior just east of Picture Rocks towering cliffs. The lakes offer vast solitude with the ability to drop a hook or tie up to a local dock close to a so distant town. A stroll down a old mining town now offering a quaint breakfast of grandma's cooking, along with fresh apple pies. The Great Lakes for the most part have enough ports within day sailing to give peace of mind mooring or enough bays to get tucked away for the night. The Great Lakes are much more boat friendly with no salt to chip away at the youth of your vessel. But, now that we are totally aware of what we have we find it in our hearts to head out to sea. I only hope that it will be all I have read from posted blogs and articles. I know the sea's can be higher, the water a bit blue and rolling, just hope our next adventure will be as rewarding as the Great Lakes have been to my wife and I....thanks for all who take the time to blog, it really helps us mentally to get prepared....keep blogging, taking pictures, videos because it inspires others to push outside our comfort zone to new walks of life......Tony

Thanks Tony! Your beautiful words paint a familiar picture. I will always consider the Great Lakes home.
