You most certainly had the most beautiful boat in the harbour that day!

Ooh, I love those! They look so great blowing in the breeze. Dyeing silks is one of my kids' favorite projects, even if we did make battle flags by accident one time while koolaid dyeing. (Zach might like that, very pirate-y. :)

please tell me you're going to tie-dye your sails next!

Lily - if there was was a way to tie dye the sails, I WOULD in a minute! I used to race sailboats pre-Z and the team I was on was a Grateful Dead sort of group on a boat called Dancing Bear no less. Lots of racers wear preppy matching polos and such. We wore tie dye! So anyhow the skipper checked with local sail lofts to see if there was a way to tie dye the spinnaker or any of the sails... but no luck. In short, the fabric used won't take dyes.

I found your site through "Red Charlotte" and thoroughly enjoy reading it. You are an amazing mother/teacher to Z. We are in the process of finding a boat to liveaboard but our son is grown up now, so just us and the dogs. What material did you use for the tie dye and what inks? They are absolutely stunning! Are they going to be scarfs? The soaps are awesome too btw. I make them as well.

Do you remember when you first found out that you were going to have a boy? You were so excited because it was what you wanted but you told me that you were a little sad that you were never going to get to tie-dye and string necklaces with him??

I remember saying I would never get to have a Sound of Music night. Boy was I wrong!
:)
I feel strongly that by not getting swayed too strongly by any gender stereotype makes a HUGE difference for kids. It's just good old fashioned fun!
