Rainy Weekend

Our weekend saw nothing but this...
... non-stop rain (with the non-stop leaks from one hatch or another and power outages every time the tide came up. Such is boat life.).
This meant lots of time piddling around inside, spending some lovely, much needed, mellow family time. I spent my days purging and organizing and wondering how so much stuff accumulated in various nooks and crannies of the boat. It felt fabulous off-loading bags and bags to GoodWill or the dump. The next task is the hardest, staring to purge some books. Books are our addiction and it's hard to say goodbye even to the ones we've read 100 times. But that's part of living small. I bring them to the library where I know I can visit them again.

Zach spent some time doing this...
 (rolling beeswax candles)
And this...
(just another day in a Lakota camp)
And this...
He and daddy have been spending loads of time hanging out in bed, telling stories, wrestling, making fart jokes, and just being boys together. That's what rainy weekends are for.

Yes, I'm finally getting used to the fart jokes myself (nothing like a husband and a six year old for those). ;) Glad you are back and having fun but wishing you some lovely spring days soon...

Gotta love male bonding!!

I think the rain has been everywhere lately! We were soaked for about three days last week, and it looked like it might rain all weekend here.

Hoping you dry out soon!! Although, a rainy day is really good excuse to just mellow out every now and then!!

I get the feeling you are somewhere around these New England waters because we seem to have the same raging weather right now. I couldn't believe the wind and the rain this weekend. It was kind of exciting in a way. We visited some very wild places with waves and howling winds which blew right through our coats this weekend. As thrilling as it was, I'm ready for sunshine now, though. How about you? love, Beth

WE haven't seen rain here for a while, but I am thinking the snow storms are going to turn into rain pretty soon! We love rolling beeswax candles..such a great indoor activity!

Girls are more than capable of fart jokes, but they prefer to talk about pee;) As I've discovered with our boat being girl-central of late...

Overheard at dinner:
"Hurry eat your asparagus and drink lots of water so you can find out if it makes your pee smell funny!!"
"Spell pig backwards and then say funny"
"If you go to ranch camp don't ever lick a boy goat on a dare, they are covered in stinky pee and all your food will taste like stinky pee for three days."

Marykaye - i think the jokes are better than the real thing, right? ;)

Cam - yes, we're drenched over here. Good thing we float. We never sweat flood warnings!

Beth - sounds fabulous! Good for you for going out and embracing it. I would too -- if it were 20 degrees warmer. We're on the Chesapeake Bay.

Joy- thanks, we're wet and cold and still waiting...

Suzy - i'll take rain over snow ANY day. Yes, beeswax candles is so fun for such a wide age spread too. Our 12 year old neighbor gets really into it as well.

Di- I didn't say girls couldn't make fart jokes. ;) It's just unavoidable with the fellas. Love the pee talk! Thanks for sharing. Tell Maia my pee smells like garlic when I eat loads of it!
