Hanging Outside

It's that time of year. The time where we simply can't bring ourselves to be indoors unless absolutely necessary. Finally. I know, as someone who practically skipped winter by running away to a tropical island I get little sympathy on the topic, but it's different when you're home. Zach is in his zone.
It makes me so happy to see him skipping along the docks ("No runing on the docks Zach. NO running!"), mucking barefoot along the shore, catching the first waves of grass shrimp and small fish, digging up worms in the green ship, and climbing trees just to sit in their branches and be. We love stretching our creative abilities indoors on a cold, wet day as much as the next person, but in the end, finding ways to make the time pass inside is a real challenge for us. This is who we are.
Outside observing the critters as they scurry to and fro, working on the boat, gliding across the water, swinging free.
He's deicded to eat most of his meals on the swing lately.
And last night he decided to hang out there way past bed time. No problem by me. I could literally feel his bliss as I peeked out through the hatch and he just sat out there in the dark, looking at the stars, slowly swinging in the fresh air, where he needs to be.

Good for him! We were eating outside too until the heat got to be too much for us. Ugh. Hopefully the beautiful spring temps will be back soon. He looks like he's having a blast. Spring and summer are just made for barefoot children. :)

Just too wonderful! I surely understand the challenge of passing the time indoors! With five kids, it can be a challenge but at the same time, they do pretty well entertaining each other - but sometimes it cab get a bit wild!
We are sure looking for the spring weather. It is still blowing, raining and even some snow and hail mixed in out here.

so evocative Cindy! I could feel the warmth, smell the salt and feel that beautiful night air as he sways back and forth watching the stars. What a great swing!

It sounds like the definition of bliss!

I can totally relate to being out and about right now. But, tomorrow the thunderstorms will arrive, and maybe then I can do something productive around here. haha!

Be well!

your photos this week are so inspiring! I imagine life on a boat to be so sweet through your eyes! I am jealous of spending so much time outside. Sometimes the constraint of having a small living space is a blessing. I wish it was warm enough here for my boys to swing all evening looking at the stars!

Joy - yeah, out in the extreme heat can ruin an appetite. We've still had cool evenings thankfully!

7c's - I'll bet! I think I get more stir crazy than Zach. He's much better at entertaining himself than me.

Laura - come on over!

Lily - I wish I'd had the foresight to buy an adult size one too. We got this in Mexico and it's truly child sized. So I live vicariously for now.

Nicole - seems like you'd have plenty of trees out your way for swinging!

Cam - true, sometimes it takes a good storm to make me be productive.

angie- I am not sure where you are, but I'll bet warm weather is right around the corner. Yes, a small space means the whole outdoors is our living room.

Erin - sorry you're having troubles. But I am glad you stopped by anyhow!!
