Falling In

We've barely managed to drag ourselves indoors these days. The weather around here this time of year is nothing short of delicious. With a keen awareness of how fast it flees we've walked, beached, paddled, picked, big wheeled, wandered, and soaked up every minute outside possible. Slowly we've made the ritual transition of our wee indoor space from summer to fall. Summer books are set aside, fall reading is front and center (even the book nook got a fall make over by Zach and daddy).

The summer nature table has been bottled up, and the fall nature table is starting to take shape.

My silly boy is insisting on going to sleep in fleece footie pajamas even though it's still quite warm, and hot coco is the morning brew of choice (we make ours with raw whole milk, unsweetened organic coco, and honey -- a little "healthier" and less sweet).

It's not quite time to snuggle inside with a good book, but here are some favorite fall books for kids -- tell me some of your favorites too! We love hearing about new books!

Christopher's Harvest Time by Elsa Beskow
The Little Yellow Leaf by Carin Berger
Woody, Hazel, and Little Pip by Elsa Beskow
Children of the Forest by Elsa Beskow
We Gather Together by Wendy Pfeffer
Thanksgiving On Thursday (Magic Tree House) by Mary Pope Osborne

Love your autumn table!!

The trees are starting to change colors only a little bit here, and I love it.

I wonder how different it will be to see less color (too many pines) than we did back home? Fall in Kentucky was absolutely beautiful. Oh, the smells of straw, the orchards...

I'll just pop over for my hot cocoa in the morning... Don't worry, I'll bring my own mug.

Awww...it all looks so sweet! Your nature table is just lovely. I don't know We Gather Together so I'll have to check that out since all the other books on your list are in our basket too! :)

Sorry we're going to miss you this weekend. Have fun at Spooky Woods though. My kids are dying to go but I'm holding out few years so Philip doesn't have nightmares the rest of his life. I've heard it's really cool though!

I just commented after you...

We were at each other's blogs commenting at the same time! How cool is that? :)

Have an awesome weekend!!

Thank you Tan and Nicole!

Cam - that IS funny, we were on at the same time. Karma, baby! You can come on up with the beautiful belly of yours and have some fall color with us any time!

Joy - I won't even tell Zach where I am going for work. I am worried the thought of it may send him into nightmares (I was doing the same last weekend in pittsburgh). There's plenty of time for that stuff when they are teenagers.

really enjoyed the visit to your nature corner. Your cozy quarters are just what I crave when the air turns crisp.

I agree: the weather has been delicious! I'll echo the others' words by saying I love your nature table and reading nook! In October, we start reading as many Halloween books as we can find. My son insisted we read "Room on the Broom" today, so you might want to add it to your October list! :)

Great nature table! I love the idea of changing the books to also represent the seasons. I've been wondering what to do about our books situation and I think this is the most perfect remedy. Thank you!!

Ariel -- how cool! Welcome aboard and I hope to hear more about your adventures!

Thank you Wendy and Masasa and Adler Fam for the warm words.

Witchy Mom, Whole Armor, and Mama Roots, thanks for adding to the book list. I will search for those at the library once I pay off my fines and they tear down the wanted posters.;)
