lost magic

So we planted these "magic beans" a few weeks back on the first sunny day. Zach had been given one of these a couple of years ago and it was so much fun to watch it grow and reveal the magic word that I was suckered into getting more.
Now I have never pretended to be a gardner, or know anything about plants, or even like gardening. But how hard could it be?! The boy scooped soil into little pots, dug little holes, plopped the beans in, and they are inside in a sunny place pampered and watered and such.
Was it something I said? Do the beans know that gardening is not my thing and they are mocking me. Not one little sprig of green has popped through our pots of dirt. Not one. Maybe I need a wand?

Anybody named "Jack" been hanging around, late at night, hoody pulled up...checking out your bean pots?

That's probably your answer right there...
I'm impressed that you ever got one to grow in the first place. We didn't hav eluck with ours, nor with our butterfly hatchery and the ants escaped from the ant farm.
Sorry they haven't worked out.... maybe they are slow growing? :)
how long have they been in the soil? i'm sure the soil and watering and sun are just right, my guess would be that the soil temperature isn't staying consistently warm enough yet? do they come inside the boat at bedtime? if they haven't been in the soil so long they've rotted (i doubt it, but you could dig up one just to see) they may just need warmer soil... i'm guessing here. but then i also wonder what is done to beans to get tiny words and bright colors on them, presumably they've tested to make sure those processes don't hinder germination. for what it's worth, i just stuck some bean seeds in cups with quinn a week ago and i was concerned it would be too early for them. but we have a cooler climate than you i think.
I like to soak seeds about 2 hours prior to planting. That helps germination a lot.
Hmmm...well, that's sad. I probably would have soaked them as well. I also would have probably planted something else in there in about a week if nothing came up. lol. Poor Z! I'll bet he's been disappointed.
I hope they come up magically overnight! Have you read the Frog and Toad story about being patient as you wait for seeds to germinate....? Though two weeks really does seem to be an adequate amount of time...Beth
